Team Rapidevo and X Shift Gearboxes at Wiscombe Park – Fighting the Hill in Style
Team Rapidevo returned to Wiscombe Park Hillclimb with precision and style with X Shift gearboxes ✔️ Fast and reliable shifts in every condition ✔️
If you’ve ever been to Wiscombe Park Hillclimb down in Devon, you’ll know it’s not just another motorsport venue. The place has history. Drivers line up on a narrow strip of tarmac, face a twisting ribbon of road that climbs through woodland, and have to wrestle their cars through tight bends, camber changes, and hairpins. It’s technical, it’s demanding, and it takes as much precision as it does raw power.
Last weekend, Team Rapidevo made their long-awaited return to the hill after a two-year break. And it turned out to be one of those classic British weekends: sunshine on Saturday, rain on Sunday.
Saturday – Catching Up
The dry conditions gave Jim Herbert and the team the perfect chance to shake off the rust and play catch-up after being away from Wiscombe for so long. Clean, grippy tarmac meant they could push harder, settle back into the rhythm, and make their mark in the tin-top shootouts.
Then came Sunday. The track turned wet and greasy, turning every corner into a challenge and making traction a luxury. But that’s where both driver and machine had to dig deep. Jim still managed to qualify for the top ten tin-top shootout, and on top of that, he brought the car home in 5th place, holding his own against some seriously fast machinery.
As Jim summed it up:
“A bit of a mixed weekend… very pleased to qualify for the tin-top top ten shootout both days with a 5th place on Sunday behind some serious weaponry. Thanks as ever to our team, couldn’t do it without you.”
Weekends like this are exactly why drivers put their trust in X Shift Gearboxes. Conditions changed from one extreme to the other, but the sequential gearbox delivered the same thing every run: fast, precise shifts you can rely on.
That combination of robust build quality and mechanical precision is what helps teams like Rapidevo stay competitive, even when the weather decides to play tricks. Because in Hillclimb, every second counts—and knowing your gearbox won’t let you down is half the battle won.
For Team Rapidevo, it was more than just a return to Wiscombe Park. It was proof that even after time away, with the right team, the right preparation, and the right equipment, you can get straight back into the fight.
And for us at X Shift, it’s another reminder of why we do what we do: building gearboxes that keep drivers confident, competitive, and always just a little bit faster.
