The beginning of the holiday season near Mladá Boleslav was in the name of the legendary Bohemia Rally 2023. This 50th anniversary year was spiced up with two Toyota GR Yaris cars with sequential gearbox from X Shift Gearboxes, driven by race drivers Karel Macek and Tomas Enge. The tropical weather forecast promised the most agile drives and a test of the durability of the racing equipment.
Already on Friday afternoon, the competitors could get introduced to their cars on the shorter technical stage of the Sosnová circuit. Then, on Saturday morning, the battles began first at the town stage in Mladá Boleslav, followed by two more intertown sections in the afternoon, which were repeated after service breaks. The increasing temperatures have caused number of breakdowns of individual cars, but the Toyota GR Yaris race cars with our sequential gearboxes were able to withstand these conditions without any problems.
The last day of Bohemia Rally 2023 on Sunday, however, did not leave anything free for the competitors. In the morning, they had another, spectator-interesting Old Town stage, and in the afternoon, the technique was troubled by more rounds of intertown stages, full of jumps and gravel sections. The thermometer rising up to 34 °C on this day, which tested not only the young engine of the GR Yaris and the endurance of our sequential gearbox, but also the other parts of the competing cars. The battle for the top positions was going on until the very end. In the RN9 category, both crews of the Toyota GR Yaris appeared on the podium - the first place went to the crew of Tomáš Enge - Lucie Engová and the third place went to the duo of Karel Macek - Lucie Vondříčková. We wish the crews good luck and success in the upcoming races and equipment endurance.
